It’s been an emotional year for Kristin Reiman-Duden, who was moved to tears when she was named the Farmfest Woman Farmer of the Year.
“It’s been a really stressful summer. It means a lot,” Reiman-Duden, a dairy farmer from Princeton, Minnesota, said, Thursday, Aug. 4, after she was named a winner from five finalists.
She said her daughter was involved in a farm accident earlier this year and a storm took down trees and battered the farm, she said in accepting the award.
“All these ladies are phenomenal,” she said of the other nominees. And she encouraged them and others to continue to advocate for agriculture. “That’s the biggest thing, is to continue telling your story,” she said.
Reiman-Duden is also an FFA advisor and took on a full-time off-farm job to help the farm transition into different management practices and improve herd health.
The other finalists were Dawn Breitkreutz of Redwood Falls, Nancy Hinricher of Pipestone, Karen Kasper of Owatonna, and Emily Ponwith of Cleveland.
