Hosted by the UK government and Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board, the March 7 event at The Boulevard Club in Toronto provided retailers with the opportunity to taste innovative cheese from different parts of the U.K. Several retailers, including Costco, Longo’s, Loblaw and Sobeys, as well as independents, attended the event.
Suppliers who participated included Tree of Life, Jan K. Overweel, Saputo, Somerdale Cheese, Les Dépendances, The Fine Cheese Co., Finica Food Specialities, Lactalis Canada and Bradburys Cheese.
Among the innovative offerings were a Coombe Castle Sticky and Ilchester cheddar with Glenphilly whiskey (Tree of Life), Oak Manor Port Wine and Oak Manor white stilton mango and ginger products (Jan K. Overweel), three different Wensleydale cheeses with blueberry, cranberry and caramelized onion (Saputo), Scottish cheddars (Lactalis Canada) and Snowdonia Truffle Trove and Ginger Spice cheeses (Finica).
