Plans to build a new dairy processing plant in Brighton are moving forward.

The municipality recently issued a building permit to start-up company Yoveggies to construct a 10,500-square-foot plant on 94 Sharp Road at a projected cost of $3-million.

Ben Hagerman, Brighton’s Manager of Economic Development and Communications said Yoveggies will make dairy-based yogurt and dips.

Yoveggies plans to hire 8 to 10 employees, he added.

Brighton sold the industrial land to Yoveggies and Hagerman noted there is room for expansion of the facility which could lead to more jobs.

The land is cleared for construction and it is expected the plant will be open in 2024-25.
