Bancroft’s Kawartha Dairy operation has provided many young people with summer jobs over the years, its managers say. They also say it’s an exceptionally safe place for them to work, too.
Kawartha Dairy was recently named Canada’s Safety Employer for Young Workers, through the Canada’s Safest Employers Awards program.
Safety Manager Joe Sullivan says the company earned the award because it provides extensive training with both theory and practical testing and through a mentorship program.
Sullivan says the company hires about 200 young workers every spring, of which about 20 are at the Bancroft location on Hwy. 28.
