National Milk Producers Federation talks H5N1 security

Whether you call it H5N1, HPAI, or Bird Flu; the fact of the matter remains that we have an issue on our hands that is testing the resolve of our animal disease contingency plans on a minor level. We talked for years about “what if?”, and we were presented with that scenario the first time bird flu crossed to a dairy cow.

The National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF) has a plan in place to get us through this situation without any risk to consumers and their dairy products. It is called the Farmers Assuring Responsible Management (FARM) Program. Emily Yeiser-Stepp of NMPF talks about how important it is to have these biosecurity measures in place.

Yeiser-Stepp discusses what farmers need to do if they think they have an animal showing symptoms.

As the H5N1 situation becomes more fluid, farmers need to be able to keep up with the changes.
