Changes are coming to St. Albans Creamery & Supply. The co-op store has been around for over a century.
It was acquired by Dairy Farmers of America in 2019, but this year it will be transitioning out of the grocery business and solely into a retail business focused on offering farm supplies to support dairy farmers, according to a spokesperson at Dairy Farmers of America.
Their grocery section offers affordable deals to the community and sells many locally produced items. Some shoppers say it’s a sad discovery.
“I’m disappointed because I think they have such amazing, unusual stuff that’s imported and people come in with their maple supplies, it’s just really, really enjoyable,” said St. Albans Shopper Ghislaine Firkey Manning.
6 employees could be impacted by the change, and Dairy Farmers of America says they are working to “explore different opportunities for them”.
