McDonald’s Chooses Fonterra As ANZ Supplier of the Year

McDonald’s is the world’s largest restaurant brand, serving over 40,000 restaurants in 115 countries and 63 million customers daily.

As one of Fonterra’s top strategic B2B customers, McDonald’s has used around 27,000 MT of Co-op’s cheese and 18,000 MT of liquid dairy annually.

This partnership has been cultivated over many years, and Fonterra was named McDonald’s ANZ Supplier of the Year.

Hailey Ryan, General Manager of Global Quick Service Restaurants, said this achievement represented the Good Together attitude across the supply chain to provide world-class service to McDonald’s.

“We use our farmers’ top-quality milk to make many dairy products for McDonald’s, including the uniquely golden cheese that goes on nearly all their burgers across the Asia Pacific,” said Ryan.

“This cheese is made with love and care at our Eltham factory in New Zealand and the Ridge Street site in Australia. At Eltham alone, we produce three billion burgers’ worth of cheese each year.”

McDonald’s Senior Director of Supply Chain, Tom Mahony, added that Fonterra was chosen as their ANZ Supplier of the Year for several reasons.

“Fonterra truly represents what it means to be a strategic partner. Their depth of knowledge, experience, and innovation across the dairy industry is second to none, not to mention the quality of their products,” said Mahony.

“Their Account Management team are at the top of their game and continually go the extra mile to achieve the right outcomes. They are transparent and know our business intimately.”

Mahony added that their focus on delivering food safety, best practice sharing and optimal commercial outcomes were among their core strengths in supporting the business across Australia and New Zealand and more broadly throughout the region.

As Fonterra doubled down on deepening its position as the world’s leading provider of dairy ingredients across its Ingredients and Foodservice channels, strengthening its partnerships with customers like McDonald’s will continue to play a vital role.
