The workers, some of whom are in Skilled Trades, manufacture butter, skim milk powder and custom milk powder blends and will be represented by Unifor Local 506.
The organizing drive began June 2024 after workers wanted to improve treatment in their workplace and were propelled to unionize after the employer made changes to policies and benefits. Workers also wanted to cut down on favouritism at their workplace.
“There’s power in numbers. These New Brunswick members join other Agropur production plant members in Bedford and Truro, N.S.,” said Unifor Organizing Director Justin Gniposky. “They know with Unifor on their side, they can fight and win.”
