AgriSearch is inviting dairy farmers in Northern Ireland to take part in a survey on the research and innovation needs of the sector.
The Northern Ireland Agricultural Research and Development Council was formed in 1997 to provide a mechanism through which beef, dairy and sheep farmers could have direct involvement in production orientated research.
Funds contributed to the independent charity are used to commission research into the improvement and development of beef, sheep and dairy farming.
AgriSearch said that its guiding principal is to provide practical benefit for primary producers to reduce costs, improve performance, drive innovation and improve welfare.
AgriSearch strategy manager Jason Rankin said that it has been over ten years since the charity last undertook a significant survey of dairy farmers.
“The first of our objectives in our five year strategic plan was to place the farmers needs at the heart of research and innovation in Northern Ireland.
“We will use the findings of this survey to articulate farmers’ research and innovation needs to government and academia,” he said.
The survey can be found on the AgriSearch website and will be open until Monday, May 5.
A survey on the research and innovation needs of beef and sheep farmers will be carried out later in the spring.
