
Milk production rose 0.4% YOY in April while milk solids were –0.4%, according to Dairy Australia.
Despite challenging conditions, season-to-date output was still just 0.1% behind the prior season comparative at the end of April.
In Victoria, milk production lifted 1.1% YOY in April, with the 10 months since July 0.3% ahead of the comparable. Northern region output increased 1.6% YOY for the month, while production jumped 5.4% YOY in Gippsland on a low prior season comparable. Meanwhile, Western region output declined 4.3% YOY as drought impacts bite.
In NSW, milk production was up 3.2% YOY, with season-to-date output3.3% ahead last season. In Tasmania, output declined 2.6% YOY production so far this season -3.1% behind the prior year. South Australian production continues to be impacted by drought, with April 6.4% behind YOY and season-to-date production –0.8%.
