Australian dairy processor expands Kyabram facility, boosting capacity and creating jobs to meet surging global demand.

Goulburn Valley Creamery (GVC) has made a significant stride in its operations, investing a substantial $20 million into its Kyabram facility in Victoria, Australia. This major financial commitment has directly enabled the company to achieve a remarkable feat: doubling its production capacity. For the international dairy community and agribusiness analysts, this expansion signals robust growth and strong confidence in Australia’s position within the global dairy market.

The extensive investment has not only ramped up GVC’s processing capabilities but also significantly increased its storage capacity and diversified its product range. Crucially, this enhanced infrastructure positions GVC to actively recruit an additional 140 million liters of milk, a testament to its commitment to meeting the escalating demands from its customer base. This strategic move strengthens its ability to deliver milk production efficiently.

A substantial portion of this expansion was supported by a $10 million grant from the Victorian government, highlighting public sector support for regional agricultural development. This funding was instrumental in upgrading the facility’s water treatment infrastructure, allowing GVC to efficiently treat raw channel water onsite. Such environmental and operational improvements contribute to the long-term sustainability of dairy processing.

Beyond the increased output, GVC’s expansion has also generated significant employment opportunities, notably resulting in the hiring of 17 new operational staff. This more than doubles the Kyabram workforce to a total of 30 people, providing a considerable boost to local employment and the regional economy. It underscores the positive socio-economic impact of growth in the dairy sector.

With its wide array of dairy products now benefiting from doubled capacity, Goulburn Valley Creamery remains committed to its roots. All products are sourced locally from Australian dairy farmers, reinforcing support for regional agriculture. This locally sourced, globally exported model positions GVC strongly within dynamic dairy economics, meeting consumer needs both domestically and internationally.
