Salvini says assault has nothing to do with dairy farmers.

The second armed attack in three days on a tanker truck transporting milk took place in Sardinia on Tuesday. In the early hours of the day two gunmen stopped a truck in Nule, in the province of Sassari, forced the driver to get out and set light to the vehicle, sources said. The attackers tied the driver to a tree, the sources said.
The attack came hours before a meeting at the Sassari prefect’s office on the price of milk, following weeks of big protests by dairy farmers on the island, who say they are no longer earning enough to get by.
On Sunday armed men stopped a truck in Orune, near Nuoro, and forced the driver to dump the milk he was carrying on the road.
Sardinia held regional elections on Sunday. “These criminals have nothing to do with the dairy farmers, with their struggle, with the protest and their reasons,” said Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Matteo Salvini.
