Mr Hall, who farms with wife Suzanne and son Tavis in the South West dairy district, has started a three-year term as director at Holstein Australia.
The fourth-generation dairy farmer replaces past president and departing director David Johnston, of Segenhoe Park Holsteins in Victoria, who served in the director role for 12 years.
Mr Hall said he hoped to use his new position to boost the dairy industry.
“A lot of farmers are exiting dairy, sadly, so in those trying times I want to maintain some positivity because there are a lot of positives,” he said.
About 200 head of the Hall’s 400-strong flock are Holsteins.
However, the Hall family are renowned for producing award-winning premium cheeses from milk from their pure-bred Normande herd.
Holstein Australia president Patrick Glass lauded Mr Hall’s appointment and said his expertise would prove valuable.
“The Holstein Australia board will benefit greatly from Phil Hall’s experience and knowledge,” he said.

A state government has laid down the law to the overseas owners of a well-known Australian brand, accusing the firm of wanting to shut it down.
