#WorldMilkDay aims to celebrate the important contributions of the dairy sector to sustainability, economic development, livelihoods and healthy nutrition.

On 1 June, milk lovers around the world will celebrate #WorldMilkDay, which was first launched in 2001 by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to celebrate and raise public awareness of the importance of milk and dairy products to nutrition and the economy worldwide.

Milk and dairy products are nutrient-rich foods that provide energy and possess significant amounts of protein and micronutrients, which are essential for reducing hunger and malnutrition, especially among the most vulnerable.

EDN joins in the celebrations of #WorldMilkDay and wishes all those who are part of or value the contribution of the dairy sector to society a very happy day.

Demand for dairy protein is running strong in the U.S. and around the world, and that provides opportunities — and challenges — for the U.S. dairy sector, according to CoBank’s outlook report for the year ahead.
