We had only just packed up our proverbial bat and ball when alas, Channel 7 announces six new singles for its immensely popular Farmer Wants A Wife television program.
Five eligible bachelors and one bachelorette have thrown their hat in the ring for the 12th season, to be aired in 2022.
To be honest, it will be hard to top last season’s shenanigans.
Expect a healthy offering of outdoor bathing (baptisms), enthusiastic dog patting and sunset watching from the back of the ute.
Two dairy farmers, Harry from Kyabram, Victoria and Ben from Wingham, NSW, have decided to put their hearts (and sanity) on the line all in the name of love.
So girls, don’t be shy, if you’re particularly keen on learning how to pull calves at 2am, learn the correct way to apply cups, wash udders and like the idea of generally immersing yourself in the smell of cow poo, then this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
With no further ado, here are your farmers…..and their heights, because that is important.
Farmer Harry
Height: 182cm (6’0)
Farmer Harry, 23, is the spring chicken of this series.
The fresh faced dairy farmer from Kyabram, Victoria, describes himself as “an easy-going guy who always has a smile”.
Harry gets a kick out of cooking his signature dish: osso buco over risotto.
Growing up, he had a pet deer named Bella and his dream date is inspired by McLeod’s Daughters which is enjoying a bath outside under a windmill.
Well my friend, you have come to the right place.
He is looking for someone who is thoughtful, who brings a positive attitude and is fun to be around.
He loves “a gal who can let their hair down and have a laugh” and is keen to travel.
Applicants also must love dogs – they’re his favourite animal.
Farmer Ben
Height: 186 cm (6’1″)
Farmer Ben, 27, is from Wingham, NSW, but he has been around the traps.
He was born in Bega NSW, started school in Tongala, Victoria, then went to high school in Mount Gambier South Australia, before completing year 11 and 12 at boarding school in Adelaide.
He’s a pretty handy cricketer, loves the outdoors and a day out at the races.
Ben describes himself as a larrikin who loves a good laugh.
He is looking for “someone who is caring, loving, honest, sincere, and selfless. A person that is supportive and kind, but not afraid to take charge and speak up”.
He also has a three-year-old daughter, who he said was his world, saying “every day I strive to be the best father I possibly can be for her”.
Sold!
Farmer Will
Height: 178cm (5’10”)
For the second year running, we have a Farmer Will.
Let’s hope things pan out a bit better in the love stakes for this Will.
Farmer Will, 26, is a sheep and cropping farmer from Berriwillock, Victoria.
He describes himself as “an upbeat and positive person” who is able to make people around him laugh.
Will loves sport, riding motorbikes and going fishing.
He is looking for a girl who is honest, trustworthy, authentic, ambitious, funny and kind.
When asked what would say to anyone thinking of applying to meet him on the program, he said “don’t think would’ve, could’ve and should’ve. Take a risk just like I am!”
Farmer Paige
Height: 178cm (5’10”)
Farmer Paige, 27, from Cassillis, NSW, is the only female amongst this gaggle of fellas on the hunt for a husband.
The sheep, cattle and cropping farmer enjoys baking and cooking, rock climbing, hiking, horse riding, attending rodeos, camp drafts and training her dogs.
When it comes to the perfect partner, Paige doesn’t have an ideal picture in mind, but she is looking for a guy who she can have fun with.
Although she is originally form Brisbane, much of Paige’s life now revolves around work on the farm, so potential suitors may be required to join her out fencing, or be her professional gate opener.
While you don’t need to be a farmer, she needs “someone who is willing to learn life on the farm”.
Farmer Benjamin
Height: 175 cm (5’9)
Farmer Benjamin, 33, from Guyra, NSW, describes himself “as an agricultural enthusiast with a penchant for the creative”.
The New England sheep farmer, who refers to himself as “a glorified shepherd” has a degree in drama, which will serve him well here I should think.
He also co-owns a record label (electronic music brings him “great joy”) and he “dabbles in visual arts through the medium of sheep”.
Benjamin also enjoys the theatre, cricket, travel and using the word “extrapolated”.
He is looking for a woman who is independent, funny and creative.
Very interestingly, he once wrote a woman’s name using 2500 sheep, then photographed and videoed it from a drone.
Benjamin thought it was a really romantic gesture, however, it wasn’t perceived quite that way.
But that won’t stop him, he sounds like he has more romantic gestures up his sleeve.
His philosophy on love: Omnia Vincet Amor (love conquerors all).
Farmer James
Height: 193cm (6’3″)
Farmer James, 28, is a sheep farmer from Tarnook, Victoria, and is the tallest unit on the show, describing himself as a gentle giant.
He is “an energetic, humorous and hardworking farmer who doesn’t shy away from a challenge”.
He likes camping, fishing, four-wheel driving, motorbike riding, hunting, spending time with his dog Chief and getting out of bed early.
No sleep-ins here ladies.
James is looking for an easy-going woman who enjoys a laugh and can drive a tractor (though not essential).
He is also no stranger to weddings, in fact he has been the MC at almost half of the weddings he’s ever attended.
