Nestlé and World Farmers’ Organisation Forge Unprecedented Alliance to Co-Develop Resilient, Regenerative Dairy and Food Systems 🤝.
Nestlé and the World Farmers’ Organisation (WFO) have established a landmark, first-of-its-kind partnership between a global food company and the largest worldwide farmers’ association. This alliance is designed to collaboratively tackle the pervasive challenge of making global food systems more resilient to climate change. The core focus of this cooperation will be to implement sustainable, viable, and financially attractive farming models, with a primary concentration on the critical dairy supply chains.
The two influential organizations will jointly advocate for essential fair policies and develop tangible, practical solutions, particularly emphasizing the implementation of regenerative agriculture practices. Arnold Puech d’Alissac, President of the WFO, affirmed that farmers are not just victims of climate change but are key drivers of the solutions. He stressed that real change requires holistic, collaborative approaches across the entire value chain, noting that this partnership aims to lead by example through trust and respect.
The collaboration’s strategic pillars include understanding the complex challenges farmers face, actively promoting awareness of regenerative agriculture concepts, and significantly strengthening the capacities of farming communities globally. Furthermore, the partners will co-develop new, viable farming models specifically designed to inspire and attract the next generation of farmers into the industry, ensuring future agricultural leadership and food security.
For Nestlé, securing a sustainable supply of raw materials is paramount, as the company relies on approximately 600,000 farmers globally. Chris Hogg, Global Head of Public Affairs at Nestlé, noted that farmers possess high proficiency in adapting to production challenges and working with natural resources. By partnering with the WFO, which represents over one billion farmers from national organizations and agricultural cooperatives in over 50 countries, Nestlé aims to put farmers “at the center” to inform global food policies with practical insights.
Both the corporate giant and the farmers’ representative body share common priorities, including advancing action on climate change from the ground up, promoting climate-resilient agriculture, and enhancing rural economies. This strategic alignment ensures that the partnership’s focus will not just be on environmental impact but also on the socioeconomic stability of farming communities, thereby ensuring robust and sustainable supply of food, particularly in the international dairy sector.
