Australian dairy exports have increased YOY in each month since December 2023 in milk solids equivalent terms, led by cheese, milk powders and fats.

July cheese exports rose 36.3% YOY – this mostly reflected stronger sales in Japan. July SMP exports were 15,209t +102.5% YOY while WMP declined 9.2% YOY on very small volumes. Fat exports rose 171.1% YOY in July in commercial butter equivalent terms – AMF was  +78.3% YOY and butter rose 224.9% YOY.

THE first of the major milk processors to announce a step-up, Fonterra, produced a 15 cent per kilogram milk solids increase to the minimum milk price for the 2024/25 season in Australia during the week.
