But with large parts of the country still in drought, there’s no bigger problem facing the bush than a lack of water.
The situation has reached crisis point for dairy farmers in the Riverina region of southern New South Wales.
Just this week, they learned that their water allocations would remain at zero indefinitely, forcing them to buy their water on the open market, where prices have spiked to around $660 a megalitre.
Many are being pushed to breaking point.
