Canadian Dairy XPO returns to Stratford April 2 and 3

There’s plenty to see and learn at the Canadian Dairy XPO as the annual dairy industry showcase gets set to open its doors at the Stratford Rotary Complex in Ontario on April 2 and 3.

It’s the first CDX since the show was acquired last September by DLG — the German agricultural society that organizes more than 30 agricultural trade shows around the world, including Agritechnica and EuroTier. The arrangement sees Ontario-based Underhill Enterprise Inc., including founder Jordon Underhill, integrated into DLG North America, a new DLG subsidiary based in Toronto, Ont.

Underhill says having DLG onboard is a big positive for his team and the show’s ability to educate dairy producers and engage the industry. In this interview with RealAgriculture’s Bernard Tobin, Underhill says the stars aligned to make the move and involve DLG. “They’re going to be very careful to not affect the culture of the show, which is part of the magic of CDX. But they will incorporate some of their systems and multimedia technologies to make the show better. The main team is still at the helm here, and we’re excited to have them involved.”

Underhill also has strong expectations for the Canadian Dairy Summit — a CEO training program happening on April 1 in Stratford at the Tom Peterson Theatre. The one-day program offers a business management opportunity for producers and will focus on topics ranging from cyber security to negotiation skills and the future of dairy trade. Story continues after the interview.

Dairy genetics will also be featured at CDX. About 80 cows and calves will be showcased in the Genetics in Motion portion of the show as well as the annual Calves For A Cause charity auction. “It’s a real special part of the CDX culture to have these elite dairy daughters from top bulls in Canada and around the world on display live for dairy farmers to compare,” says Underhill.

In 2024, the Calves For A Cause auction raised $60,000 to benefit London Children’s Health Foundation. This year 40 elite calves will be offered for auction. The sale will be part of CheeseFest, which kicks off at 4:00 pm on the the first day of CDX.
