Traditional dairy farmers have the opportunity this month to learn from others who’ve taken the plunge into milking sheep.

Sheep milk producer Maui Milk is running information sessions to encourage more Waikato farmers to convert their farms.

There’s growing demand for sheep milk especially in the Asian baby formula market.

The Hamilton-based operation already has four suppliers as well as its own farms on the shores of Lake Taupo.

Maui Milk’s general manager of operations Peter Gatley is Country Life’s guest this week and he says there’s room for plenty more.
