Country Fresh recently became a farmer-owned brand of Dairy Farmers of America (DFA), a national dairy cooperative that helps to support local dairy farm families.
Last year, DFA purchased a significant portion of the Dean Foods assets, including 44 facilities across the country, one of which will now be the Country Fresh Dairy plant in Grand Rapids.
Under the new ownership, the management team at the Country Fresh plant will continue to handle the day-to-day operations, and all employees will retain their current positions.
“Country Fresh has always been about producing fresh, wholesome dairy products for our consumers across Michigan,” said Eric Eves, general manager, Country Fresh. “With our new ownership by a farmer-owned dairy cooperative, we are thrilled to get back to our regional brand roots and provide consumers in Michigan with delicious dairy products for many years to come.”
Country Fresh processes about 980,000 gallons of milk per week for its line of dairy products, which includes buttermilk, whipping cream, half and half, soft-serve ice cream mixes, cottage cheese, sour cream, dips and juices.
