South Gippsland unites industry leaders, modern farms, and fun challenges at the 2025 Dairy & Farming Expo.
The South Gippsland Dairy & Farming Expo, celebrating its 26th year, returns to Korumburra on September 3–4. Hosted by the Strzelecki Lions Club, the event is a cornerstone for showcasing cutting-edge innovations, services, and products tailored to the dairy industry.
A centerpiece seminar titled “Behind every great glass of milk is someone remarkable: Not all heroes wear capes, some wear gumboots”, presented by Matt Harms from ONFARM Consulting, will spotlight the journeys of prominent farmers, accountants, and industry contributors—including Russell Follett, Peter Notman, and John Versteden. This session will also conclude with the launch of the Gippsland Dairy Industry Strategy by the region’s leadership group.
Attendees can register for a two-hour tour of Mt Lyall Dairies in Nyora, featuring a modern 100-stand rotary dairy facility and a live drone demonstration. A complimentary bus will depart on September 3, with farm-side parking also available for self-guided visitors.
The effort extends beyond business: the Udder Truth Show Bag Competition invites farmers (18+) to answer 17 of 20 questions from exhibitors to win cash prizes up to $3,000. Meanwhile, the quirky Gumboot Gift footrace—which requires authentic farm-style gumboots—offers a $4,000 prize pool and underscores the expo’s community spirit.
With support from major sponsors like GEA, Lely, Saputo Dairy Australia, and Rabobank, the expo also fuels local goodwill—raising over $630,000 for community programs through the Lions Club. Farmers and industry professionals alike are encouraged to join the two-day event for networking, innovation, and celebration of the dairy legacy.
