PASCO, Wash. – Darigold, Inc. has officially opened a new facility in Pasco, marking it as the largest dairy processing plant in the Northwest.

The facility will process up to 8 million pounds of milk daily from over 100 regional farms, Darigold said in a release.

The project, representing more than $1 billion in investment, is expected to support over 1,000 jobs, including nearly 200 direct positions.

“Dairy demand continues to grow, both here at home and abroad,” said Allan Huttema, President and CEO of Darigold and a third-generation dairy farmer in Parma, Idaho. “Our new Pasco facility solidifies the Northwest as a global dairy leader and reflects our farmer-owners’ long-term commitment to good stewardship, high-quality production, and maintaining dairy farming as a way of life.”

Construction began in 2022, and while milk processing has started, the company plans to produce powdered milk and butter by the end of July.

The Pasco project was developed in collaboration with the Port of Pasco and other partners, the release added.
