Milk production in South Dakota during February 2023 totaled 325 million pounds, up 6% from February 2022, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.

The average number of milk cows was 187,000 head, 12,000 head more than February 2022. Milk production per cow averaged 1,740 pounds.
