Fonterra collected 174.2mkg of milksolids in September, +4.9% YOY. It brings season-to-date collection 6.1% above the prior season comparable, according to the October Global Update.
The increase reflected improved weather and soil conditions, however a wetter start to spring is affecting some regions. Season-to-date collections are 307.2mkg at the end of September, +6.1% compared to the prior season comparative.
North Island intake was up 4.8% YOY in September, reflecting favourable weather conditions and strong pasture growth. Season-to-date collections are 6.7% ahead of the prior season comparable. South Island weather conditions were also described as favourable, contributing to a 5% increase in milk intake for September. Fonterra noted some areas have surplus soil moisture, while unfavouarble conditions impacted production in the lower South Island.
