Global dairy giant Fonterra has partnered with manufacturer Superbrewed Food to enhance sustainable food production.
The collaboration combines Superbrewed’s biomass protein platform with Fonterra’s dairy processing, ingredient, and application knowledge to provide more nutrient-dense, functional biomass protein.
The agreement follows Superbrewed’s commercial launch of its patented biomass protein, Postbiotic Cultured Protein.
According to the companies, the collaboration tackles the growing global demand for protein, highlighting their shared commitment to producing sustainable, functional proteins that fulfil customer and consumer needs worldwide.

Its cutting-edge technology aligns with our mission to provide sustainable nutritional solutions to the world and respond to the global demand for protein solutions thereby creating more value from milk for our farmers,” said Chris Ireland, GM innovation partnerships.
The multi-year collaboration also aims to create innovative biomass protein solutions based on the fermentation of multiple feedstocks, including Fonterra’s lactose permeate, created during the dairy process. The goal is to increase the value of Fonterra’s lactose by transforming it into high-quality, sustainable protein using Superbrewed technology.
