Federated Farmers wants the Government to punish Greenpeace for their illegal occupation of Port Taranaki this month.
Four Greenpeace protestors were arrested by police after they occupied a storage facility at Port Taranaki and disrupted a shipment of palm kernel destined for Fonterra farms.
Federated Farmers spokesperson Richard McIntyre questioned whether Greenpeace should call themselves a charity.
“They’re nothing short of an extreme activist group who illegally disrupt legitimate business and spread dangerous misinformation.”
Under the Charities Act, organisations must operate for the public good and not primarily serve political or advocacy purposes.
