Guernsey Dairy to stop producing cheese
BBC Guernsey Dairy has announced it is discontinuing cheese production to focus on other products

Guernsey Dairy has stopped producing cheese, officials have said.

The decision follows a condition assessment of the dairy in 2024, which found the factory did not have enough space for new machinery that was needed.

Stopping cheese production will free up space for other operations, which includes replacing milk packing and handling equipment, the dairy added.

Guernsey Dairy operations director Andrew Tabel said the dairy needed to focus on core operations as it holds a “special position” in the island’s community.

The dairy said the final batch of cheese, which was made before Christmas, is expected to sell out by the end of the year.
