An offering of 60 Holsteins bred by master breeder Richard Hull attracted spirited bidding at the Shepparton Regional Saleyards on Thursday.
The Eclipse Holsteins stud has produced winners shown at International Dairy Week and the Winter Fair, including champion red and white winners, as well as best udders at both shows.
A young two-year-old Holstein, Eclipse Moovin D7 Princess, sold for $23,000 to a Tamworth buyer.
Dairy Livestock Services auctioneer Brian Leslie said the cow was from the highly sought-after Princess family, classified VG86, and the price reflected the current high demand for top quality genetics.
A Moovin freshly calved cow, Eclipse Moovin D August, sold for the second top price of $18,000.
“This was the eighth Eclipse sale, so there were a good number of return buyers,” Mr Leslie said.
“It’s a very high type of animal that Eclipse produces.”
The November 30 sale averaged $6775, with buyers coming from NSW, South Australia and all regions of Victoria.
