Kerry Group has announced an increase in its milk price for supplies in the month of August.

A statement from the processor said: “Our Kerry Group base price for August milk supplies is 31c/L, VAT inclusive.

“Based on average August milk solids, the price return including VAT and bonuses is 35.06c/L,” a Kerry Group spokesperson added.

This represents an increase of 0.5c/L compared to last month’s price of 30.5c/L.

Other Processors

Processors began announcing their prices for August milk last Friday (September 11).

Glanbia announced that it will pay its member milk suppliers 30.6c/L including VAT for August creamery milk supplies at 3.6% butterfat and 3.3% protein.

This is a 0.5c/L increase from the July milk price.
Glanbia Ireland (GI) will pay a base milk price for August of 30.18c/L including VAT for creamery milk at 3.6% fat and 3.3% protein, the processor said.

Farmer members will also receive a 0.42c/L including VAT payment from Glanbia Co-op on all milk supplied this month as their ‘Share of GI Profit’.

Meanwhile, Lakeland announced that, in the Republic of Ireland, a base price of 31c/L including VAT will be paid for milk supplied in August.

The base price is unchanged from July.

In Northern Ireland, a base price of 25.25p/L will be paid for August milk. Again, the base price is unchanged.

Local cheese maker Rowan Cooke was devastated when he heard King Island Dairy would be shutting down.
