It was an exciting day for employees at the Lactalis Heritage Dairy Factory in Tulare.
A new facility has been expanded that will include a new state-of-the-art production line.
According to Tulare’s Plant Director Joey Freitas, it’ll help with the demand for feta cheese and help financially.
According to the CEO of Lactalis Heritage Dairy Peter Cotter, it’s also a project that’s been on the minds of the company for some time.
“It’s been a little while coming,” Cotter said.
It’s a $55 million investment into the facility. It brings new jobs, it brings obviously the production that we need for the business and it’s just great to be a part of this community.
The additional project to the Lactalis building in Tulare is one of, if not, the biggest project to Lactalis USA across the nation. It’s something both the plant director and a member of the corporation from Chicago believe is well deserved for a community that’s been so welcoming.
“The people here, the support that we’ve gotten from local officials, the infrastructure, all of those things I talked about in the upfront,” Cotter said. “That’s what drew us here and made us feel really good about it.”
With all the support that’s been given to them, Lactalis hopes this project will be able to give back.
“The big part of this is we’re able to grow the community,” Freitas said. “We’re also able to provide jobs for employees. Provide very nice living for people and allow them to enjoy their life together and be able to build a brand and produce a great product for the community.”
Officials say the expansion will provide an extra 20 full-time jobs and 100 temporary jobs to build the new line.
