With the New Year comes new ideas, and lawmakers are still trying to find ways to fund the Farm Bill.
According to Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA), while there have been many ideas floating around, cuts to SNAP are still key to keeping the “farm” in the upcoming Farm Bill.
“Now the pandemic’s over, SNAP should go back to its pre-pandemic levels, plus inflation,” Sen. Grassley said. “Then, the second thing would be ensuring that farm payments go to farmers with dirt under their fingernails and actively engaged.”
Congressional Democrats have opposed the idea of cutting SNAP benefits, but lawmakers are eager to get the new Farm Bill passed.
