DFW Board of Directors seats FY 2027 Executive Committee and welcomes three new directors to oversee state checkoff investments through June 2027.
The Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin (DFW) Board of Directors has formally announced its Executive Committee for fiscal year 2027 following its annual July election meeting in Madison. The 25-member board re-elected Janet Clark of District 16 (Eldorado) to serve her fifth consecutive term as Board Chair. Clark and the executive team will lead the organization through June 30, 2027, focusing on the strategic allocation of dairy checkoff dollars to expand market access, foster consumer trust, and drive demand for Wisconsin milk and cheese products.
Serving alongside Clark on the FY 2027 Executive Committee are Jonathon Hallock of District 13 (Mondovi) as Vice Chair, Sandra Madland of District 15 (Lyndon Station) as Secretary, and Mark Crave of District 19 (Watertown) as Treasurer. In addition, the board named committee chairs to lead specific operational areas, including Kristen Metcalf (Communications), Carolyn Alsteen (Channel Management), Andrew Christenson (Policy/Bylaws), and Ali Straschinske (Center for Dairy Research Liaison).
The July election meeting also marked the official seating of three newly elected board members: Evan Hillan of District 1 (Ladysmith), Bruce Gumz of District 8 (Dorchester), and Patrick R. Schroeder of District 22 (Lancaster). Concurrently, seven incumbent directors were re-elected by dairy producers in their respective districts to serve additional three-year terms, ensuring operational continuity across the organization’s governance framework.
Composed of 25 farmer-elected directors representing distinct geographic districts across the state, the DFW board oversees organizational policy, approves long-range marketing plans and annual budgets, and monitors checkoff investments. The board works directly with regional processors, retail partners, and research institutions like the Center for Dairy Research (CDR) at UW-Madison to enhance the commercial competitiveness of Wisconsin’s dairy industry.
Ultimately, the re-election of Clark and the seating of the FY 2027 board underscore DFW’s commitment to farmer-led governance amid evolving consumer trends and market dynamics. By prioritizing producer representation and strategic checkoff deployment, the board aims to build long-term value, champion dairy stewardship, and strengthen market channels for Wisconsin’s dairy farm families.
