The latest Bureau of Meteorology outlook for April to June is for warmer, dryer weather.

Dry conditions persists in the southern regions, of SA, Tasmania and Western Victoria. A typical rainfall range is expected across most areas of Australia. Southern agricultural areas already experiencing dry conditions are unlikely to see much rainfall with below average rainfall forecast in the three months to June.

Soil moisture is below average in the far south of mainland Australia and Western Tasmania. Water storages are at 67% capacity, with storages in the north and east of Australia at full capacity while southern reservoirs are below 50% full. Ex-tropical cyclone Alfred did not top up storages in the Murray-Darling Basin which sits at 57% capacity, compared to 77% at this time in 2024.

Warmer than usual days and nights are forecast across the country. Ocean temperatures are forecast to remain warmer than average.
