Colorado Pioneer Celebrates Six Decades of Farm-to-Doorstep Excellence.

Longmont Dairy, a family-owned business in Colorado, is celebrating its 60th anniversary, marking six decades of upholding an “old-school” approach to milk delivery. From its iconic glass bottles to its direct-to-doorstep service, the dairy embodies a nostalgic charm while consistently providing fresh, local products. The company’s operations span from Loveland to Parker, ensuring weekly milk deliveries across a wide range of communities, with milk bottled within 24 hours of collection from their dedicated farm near Loveland.

At the heart of Longmont Dairy’s operations is its commitment to product purity and animal welfare. Their 600 cows are raised without the use of steroids, antibiotics, or artificial hormones, a commitment to natural production that resonates deeply with consumers. This dedication to freshness and quality is a key reason why many customers remain loyal for decades, with some reporting 30 years of continuous service, as noted by Katie Copeland, Longmont Dairy president and third-generation co-owner.

Longmont Dairy’s distinctive farm-to-doorstep model and use of reusable glass containers set it apart within the Colorado dairy industry. According to Gabi Johnston of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Longmont Dairy is one of only two dairies in the state offering home delivery and one of two utilizing glass bottles, highlighting its unique market position and environmental commitment. The business has also evolved by partnering with local companies to deliver a wider array of fresh products, including bread, yogurt, and cookie dough, expanding its value proposition beyond traditional milk.

Community engagement and philanthropy are integral to Longmont Dairy’s ethos. Their “Milk Caps for Mooola” program recently hit a significant milestone of 15 million caps collected, translating to over $750,000 donated to Colorado schools since its inception in 2012. Over 400 schools have participated, turning glass bottle caps into valuable cash for educational initiatives. The dairy also actively participates in local farmers markets in Longmont, Westminster, and Arvada, offering product samples and engaging directly with customers.

The success and longevity of Longmont Dairy are a testament to its quality products, commitment to customer service, and strong community ties. Brand representatives often highlight the positive reception at farmers markets, where both existing customers and new families eagerly sample diverse offerings like root beer milk, strawberry milk, and popular cold brew coffee. This blend of tradition, quality, and community focus solidifies Longmont Dairy’s position as a beloved local institution and a model for sustainable agribusiness in the international dairy sector.
