Fonterra’s operations have been deemed an essential service once the country enters Alert Level 4 tomorrow.
ROSS GIBLIN/STUFF Fonterra CEO Miles Hurrell says the co-op is confident about maintaining its forecast price.

Fonterra CEO Miles Hurrell says their operations and collection of farmers’ milk will be prioritised over the next four weeks.
He told Mike Hosking there’s no need to panic buy – and milk won’t be running out.

“Some of the behaviour we have seen at supermarkets isn’t helpful, but the supply lines are open and we are working closely with supermarket chains to make sure they get what they need.”

All Fonterra staff will work from home if possible, while workers on the ground will keep a safe social distance.

This is on top of an investment of €18,060 for extra soiled water storage and additional calf housing over the past ten years, based on a typical 100 cow dairy farm.
