Milk production is down in New York and prices have increased, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service.

According to the milk report released on March 21:

■ Milk production in New York during February 2022 totaled 1,184 million pounds, down 0.8 percent from February 2021. The average milk price received by New York farmers in January 2022, at 24.70 per hundredweight, is up $2.70 from December 2021 but up $7.60 from January a year ago.

■ Milk production in Pennsylvania during February 2022 totaled 791 million pounds, down 0.9 percent from February 2021. The average milk price received by Pennsylvania farmers in January 2022, at $24.80 per hundredweight, is up $2.50 from December 2021 but up $7.50 from January a year ago.

■ Milk production in Vermont during February 2022 totaled 199 million pounds, down 0.5 percent from February 2021. The average milk price received by Vermont farmers in January 2022, at $25.20 per hundredweight, is up $2.50 from December 2021 but up $7.40 from January a year ago.
