Australian milk production increased +2.5% YOY in April, bringing season to date production 3% ahead of the comparative according to Dairy Australia. IT was the twelfth consecutive month of YOY growth in milk production.
Victorian production was +4% YOY higher for the month bringing the season to April ahead +2.7%. Conditions were mixed across the state with the milk intake in the north up +9.6% YOY in April and +4.3% ahead of the prior season.
Gippsland milk production was up +3% in April, and +4.2% for the season so far, while dry conditions reduced April intake in the west –0.1% YOY, making season to date production line-ball with last year.
Dry conditions also impacted Tasmanian milk output, down –2.4% YOY in April, while production is still ahead +3.2% for the season.
In NSW milk output was 3.3% higher for the month, and ahead 5.5% for the season to April. Queensland was the only mainland state that has milk output drop in April, by –5.2% YOY, while SA and WA were both up +2.1%.
