South Island dairy event switches to April dates and heads for Timaru.
The South Island Dairy Event, SIDE, will head to Timaru for the first time and will be held in April instead of its traditional date of June.
The upcoming conference on April 7-9 marks a departure from last year’s event at Lincoln University, which had a strong science and research angle.
This year’s focus pivots towards showcasing tangible achievements within dairy farming communities across the South Island.
SIDE co-chair and Hunter Hills dairy farmer Abby Rawcliffe said dairying is grounded not in theory but in hands-on practice.
“Our choice to highlight real achievements reflects the practical mindset shared by our participants.”
Established in 1998 as New Zealand’s premier dairy conference led by farmers for farmers, SIDE’s mission is to empower people in the South Island dairy sector to adapt and manage change.
BrightSIDE will also be back. The one-day event designed for students, young farmers, or those seeking to enter or advance in the dairy industry, will take place as part of the SIDE conference on Tuesday, April 8.
