Gabriella Ditton, 29, and Gemma Barnes, 33, were among nine people due to appear before Wycombe Magistrates Court on May 9 over a protest at the Arla Foods dairy at Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire.

Groups of Animal Rebellion supporters with banners calling for a switch to ‘plant-based food system” stopped and climbed onto company trucks outside the factory on September 4 last year.

Thames Valley Police said 23 people had been arrested.

Ditton, of Silver Road, and Barnes, of Old Library Mews, are both charged with obstructing or disrupting lawful activity.

The protest was among a series of demos outside four food production sites, including another Arla factory at Hatfield in Hertfordshire and Muller facilities in Droitwich and Bridgwater.

At the time, Animal Rebellion, who accused the companies of not ‘tackling the climate crisis’, said its activists had also let down the tyres of trucks, filled pipes with expanding foam, climbed milk silos and entered the sites’ loading bays.

This is on top of an investment of €18,060 for extra soiled water storage and additional calf housing over the past ten years, based on a typical 100 cow dairy farm.
