Producer prices for dairy products increased by 9.8% over the 12-month period to March 2024, according to the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
The wholesale price index for October shows producer prices for food products increased by 1.1% in the last 12 months and food products, beverages and tobacco wholesale price index was up by 0.5%.
Aside from dairy, another notable change recorded was the decrease in producer prices for grain milling, starches and animal feeds by -4%.
Meat and meat product prices saw a slight increase by 1.1%. Fish and fish products also had a small increase by 1.6%.

The CSO data also shows a rise in electricity prices by 9.6% for the month of October 2024.
However, prices were 1.5% lower than October 2023, and they were 68.1% lower than the peak that occurred in August 2022.
Domestic producer prices for manufactured goods were on average 1% higher in October 2024 when compared with a year earlier.
Producer prices for exported goods were down by 2%. Overall, manufacturing producer prices were 1.7% lower in the year.
The most notable changes in other producer prices in the year to October 2024 included: Wearing Apparel, which increased by 3%; Chemicals and chemical products, which decreased by 13.8%; and rubber and plastic products, down 3.4%.
Wholesale prices for construction products were unchanged in the month to October 2024 and rose by 0.8% in the 12 months since October 2023. Individually, sand and gravel increased by 8%, cement by 7.8%, and rough timber decreased by 5.6%.
Building and construction index, including material and wages, was also unchanged in the month and was 2% higher than the same month last year.
