South Dairy Trade ARGENTINA:

Compared to the first half of September, the Argentine dairy market showed a decline in the average export price and a slight reduction in the number of destinations reached.

Between September 16 and 30, the total average price dropped to USD 3,256.30 per ton, a 5.37% decrease compared to the USD 3,441.17 of the first half. This variation suggests potential pressure on international prices or adjustments in demand. The number of export destinations also decreased, from 28 to 26, although the exported volume grew slightly, from 12,103.97 to 12,592.14 tons.

The exported products included a wide range of dairy derivatives, from whole and
skimmed milk powders to semi-hard and hard cheeses, butter, and whey products such as
ButterMilk, WPC 35, and WPC 80 (concentrated whey proteins), as well as partially
demineralized whey and permeate whey.

South Dairy Trade URUGUAY:

Between October 16 and 31, 2024, the Uruguayan dairy market experienced a remarkable rebound. The average export price increased to USD 3,701.51 per ton, marking a 7.9% rise compared to the USD 3,432.01 reached in the first half of the month. This growth reflects an improvement in the competitiveness of Uruguayan dairy products in international markets.

Additionally, the volume of exports also showed significant progress, with 11,141.75 tons shipped in the second half of October, compared to 8,837.18 tons in the first half. This highlights an increase in exported volume, indicating stronger demand. The number of export destinations also rose from 31 to 38, underscoring the diversification of markets Uruguay was able to access during this period. These results reinforce the growth and competitiveness of the Uruguayan dairy sector on the global stage.

In the second half of October 2024, Whole Milk Powder and Butter stood out as the dairy products with the highest export increases.

Whole Milk Powder exported a total of 8,711.25 tons, accounting for approximately 78% of the total dairy exports from Uruguay in that period (11,141.75 tons). This volume reflects a 50.8% increase compared to the 5,813.42 tons exported in the first half of October.

On the other hand, Butter recorded a significant increase in exports, reaching 832.77 tons in the second half, which represents 7.47% of the total exported during that period.

Compared to the 403.47 tons exported in the first half, this figure represents a 106.8% growth, more than doubling its export volume.

Both products not only contributed significantly to the total export volume of Uruguay in the second half of October but also reflect strong demand and the competitiveness of Uruguayan dairy products in the international market.
