Farrah Newberry confirmed as The Dairy Alliance chief executive, bringing two decades of deep experience in advocacy and agricultural economics.
The Dairy Alliance, the influential nonprofit organization funded by dairy farm families across the Southeast United States, has formally appointed Farrah Newberry as its new Chief Executive Officer. Newberry, a respected executive with over two decades of dedicated experience supporting the region’s dairy producers, previously served the organization as Vice President of Agriculture and Environmental Affairs, and most recently as Interim CEO. Her confirmation is viewed by the Board of Directors as providing the robust leadership and strategic direction necessary to advance the Alliance’s core mission of promoting the nutritional and economic value of dairy.
Newberry’s extensive background is rooted in advocacy and regulatory expertise within the dairy sector. Prior to joining The Dairy Alliance four years ago, she served for 22 years as the Executive Director of Georgia Milk Producers, Inc. In this critical role, she was responsible for educating both farmers and governing officials on essential industry challenges, including legislation, environmental regulations, animal health, and milk pricing. This comprehensive experience positions her as a trusted, well-rounded leader equipped to navigate the complex economic and policy landscape of the region.
The new CEO expressed her deep honor in taking the leadership role, emphasizing that the dedication and resilience of the Southeast’s dairy farm families serve as her daily inspiration. Her forward-looking agenda includes leveraging the organization’s strong foundation to expand partnerships, elevate programs, and further strengthen the dairy community across the Alliance’s eight states of focus: Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
Newberry’s professional credentials extend into agricultural economics and education. A graduate of the University of Georgia in agricultural communications, she also studied agricultural journalism. She has further reinforced her commitment to professional collaboration by serving as president of the board of directors for the Agricultural Economics Association of Georgia. Her leadership merits have been recognized with numerous honors, including the 2022 Distinguished Agriculture Steward Award from the Georgia Agriculture Commissioner.
The Dairy Alliance Board of Directors, led by President Michael Ferguson, expressed complete confidence in Newberry, calling her the “ideal person” to guide the organization into its next chapter. The Alliance is committed to working with a diverse range of stakeholders—including schools, health professionals, state leaders, and the media—to advocate for dairy foods and champion the work of its farmers, ensuring its efforts continue to yield maximum impact for the Southeast dairy community.
