Alpena dairy farmer to lead promotion programs.
Corby Werth

United Dairy Industry of Michigan (UDIM) board members elected Corby Werth from Alpena, Michigan, as President at their reorganizational meeting on March 6.
“I’ve been on the UDIM board of directors for 12 years,” says Werth. “Dairy promotion is extremely important to me because it’s the way we tell the story of Michigan’s dairy farmers, and our nutritious dairy foods, to the world.”

Werth is a fourth-generation dairy farmer at Werth Dairy Farm and milks 350 Holstein and Brown Swiss alongside his parents and brother. They also farm 1,100 acres of corn and alfalfa for feed for their cattle. Werth has been married to his wife, Melissa, for almost 25 years. They have two children, Annalee and Carson.

Beyond Werth’s involvement in UDIM, he’s also actively involved in the Michigan Milk Producers Association (MMPA) and represents Michigan dairy farmers at the national level on the Dairy Management Inc. (DMI) board.

“I look forward to working closely with UDIM staff as they bring to life UDIM’s mission under the guidance of the board of directors,” says Werth. “We’ll continue to work together to build trust in Michigan’s dairy families and demand for all dairy foods.”

The UDIM board of directors is comprised of dairy farmers, dairy processors and dairy industry members from across the state of Michigan. Board members represent their peers to help guide promotion programs that connect the dairy community, and the dairy foods they provide, to the consumers who enjoy them.

“Consumer needs are constantly evolving, and I look forward to helping find ways for dairy to be a part of the solution to their changing preferences,” says Werth. “Michigan dairy foods are part of the solution to meeting consumer nutrition needs and leading the path of sustainability, I’m passionate about both.”
