Conaprole, the Uruguayan milk producers' cooperative, experienced strong growth in whole milk powder (WMP) exports during January 2023.

In the first fifteen days of the month, the company exported a total of 1,456.01 tons of WMP. However, in the second half, Conaprole recorded a significant increase in exports, reaching 11,957.00 tons of WMP shipped abroad.

The main destinations of Conaprole’s exports of LPE are Brazil and Algeria. Brazil leads the ranking of the cooperative’s main destinations, closely followed by Algeria. It is interesting to note that, in the first fifteen days of the month, Conaprole did not export any LPE to Brazil. All exports to this destination were made during the second half of the month.

The growth in sales to Brazil, the largest importer of dairy products in South America, suggests that demand for dairy products remains strong in the international market.

This information comes from the SouthDairyTrade platform that every two weeks monitors dairy exports from Argentina and Uruguay and in its last survey reported an average value for all dairy products of U$S 4,005.77 for Argentine exports and U$S 3,875.61 for Uruguayan exports.

THE first of the major milk processors to announce a step-up, Fonterra, produced a 15 cent per kilogram milk solids increase to the minimum milk price for the 2024/25 season in Australia during the week.
