Key points:
- Infant milk powder manufacturer Viplus Dairy has announced a round of voluntary redundancies
- The Toora-based dairy exporter cut 31 jobs in January last year
- The plant exports product to 14 countries, however China had been its biggest market
Jon McNaught, chief executive of ViPlus Dairy, confirmed the company last week sought voluntary redundancies from its staff.
The ABC Understands the Toora-based exporter has sought 25 voluntary redundancies, out of a local workforce of 46 people.
ViPlus Dairy’s powdered milk products are exported to 14 countries, however China was its biggest market.
After cutting positions last year Mr McNaught said the decision was taken due to a pandemic-led global downturn.
At the time he said the staff were let go because international markets had not rebounded from the pandemic as quickly as hoped.
More to come.
