Officials of the Food and Drug Administration, Konkan Division, have seized the stock of raw materials used for manufacture of spurious paneer in a raid on a dairy farm at Gokhivare in Vasai of the district.

Acting on a tip-off-cum-complaint, the officials on Friday raided the New Om Sainath Dairy and seized the stock of raw materials used for manufacture of spurious paneer, the FDA stated in an official release here.

During the raid, it was found that paneer was being manufactured in unhygienic conditions by one Ashok Dubey without valid permit.

Preliminary reports indicated that the paneer was spurious.

The total seizure of the stock was worth Rs 17,700.

The FDA has registered an offence with the local police in this regard and is probing further into the case, it was stated.

In the coming weeks, a significant decision awaits dairy farmers as they prepare to cast their votes on a critical package of milk marketing reforms.
