Buoyed by the success of Karimnagar Dairy, milk producers from Kamareddy district have started supplying milk to Karimnagar Dairy to avail the highest procurement price besides the welfare schemes for milch animals as well as the farmers and their family members.
Earlier, the dairy farmers of Kamareddy district were supplying milk to Telangana State Dairy Development Cooperative Federation also known as Vijaya Dairy. But, the farmers were not satisfied with the Vijaya Dairy for various reasons including low procurement price and non-availability of welfare schemes for the farmers and the animals.
Inspired by over 22 welfare schemes being rolled out for the welfare of the milch animals and another 10 welfare schemes for farmers and their family members, the milk producing farmers of neighbouring Kamareddy district had decided to supply milk to the Karimnagar Dairy. Already, about 70 farmers from Nandiwada village of Tadwai mandal have been supplying 420 litres of milk per day to the Karimnagar Dairy.
In order to get firsthand information about the functioning of Karimnagar Dairy and know more about the welfare schemes, farmers from the Kamareddy district made a field visit to the Karimnagar Dairy on Friday.
They visited the main plant and inspected the milk processing and production of milk products etc., green fodder unit, administrative block and the parlour among others. Later, they interacted with the dairy officials and got clarifications on various issues.
On this occasion, Karimnagar Dairy Managing Director P Shankar Reddy said that the dairy farmers of the Kamareddy district have taken a wise decision to supply milk to the Karimnagar Dairy which was a good sign of progress of the farmers.
Clarifying the doubts raised by the farmers, he said that the Karimnagar Dairy was farmers-owned dairy and not a private company. He said that the Karimnagar Dairy can procure and sell milk in any part of the country. Advisor V Hanumantha Reddy explained about the steady progress of the Karimnagar Dairy over the past two decades and the concerted efforts made by the dairy Chairman Ch Rajeshwara Rao for making the Karimnagar Dairy number one dairy in the Telangana State.
He also reminded that the Karimnagar Dairy alone was providing highest procurement price to the dairy farmers and also launched several welfare programmes including ‘Kalyanamasthu’, scholarships to the children of farmers, social security through ‘Palanidhi’, insurance coverage for the milking animals and the farmers, free veterinary medical camps at the doorstep of the farmers among others.
