Milk | Punjab: ‘Subsidy for milk, meat units’

Entrepreneurs interested in setting up milk plants and units of milk products, meat, cattle feed and silage can now avail 3% discount on the interest rate according to a new scheme.

Punjab minister for animal husbandry, fisheries and dairy development Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa said this scheme would continue for three years for which Rs 15 crore had been reserved by the central government for giving 3% subsidy on the interest rate for setting up such units. Entrepreneurs of Punjab can contact the department’s deputy director offices and head office helpline 0172-5027285 to avail benefits.

He said farmers were getting good yields by adopting allied occupations but they needed more product development, better maintenance, and quality marketing, so quality products could be provided to consumers.
