Nearly 200 Holstein and 40 Jersey cattle will participate in the event which was originally launched in 1982, but went into a hiatus about ten years ago.
Western Dairy Expo returns to Saskatoon
The event was revived when a dairy show in BC was cancelled and producers from the four western province were looking for a spring competition and an opportunity to promote their cattle for potential buyers.

A local organizing committee was established and found local sponsorship to have the event at the Prairieland Ag Centre.  It begins Thursday with a judging school and junior show. The Holstein and Jersey heifer shows will be held on Friday with the the Holstein and Jersey cow show going on Saturday.

CJWW Agriculture Director Neil Billinger went to the barns on Wednesday morning and spoke to one of the members of the organizing committee, Bryce Fisher who owns a dairy farm at Cudworth.   He also spoke to Lee Simanton with Crestomere Holsteins near Ponoka, Alberta.  Both interviews are below.
